There is no reason to be hostile towards other girls just because they

are girls; the ones who disavow their gender in the company of boys

tend to be scared, rather than legitimately disinterested in making

female friends.

Flirtatiousness is a dumb and embarrassing means of soliciting flattery.

It is no triumph of charm to get a guy to think of you “that way,” and

girls who can only negotiate the world through the plastic prism of their

sexuality tend to end up incorrigibly lonesome.

If you are ever in a situation where it would behoove you to like someone

you do not like, try to trap them in their context. Among their friends,

or demonstrating the talent they love best, even the most odious people

can make sense.

If you spend any money on your haircut, stop it. What a waste. It is

cooler to cut your hair yourself or have a friend help, but either way you

can’t tell just by looking. Anyway, nobody cares except your mom, and there

are better ways to show her you love her.

Similarly you should be able to put together a serviceable outfit from thrift

store items, no matter what your fashion sense. I don’t mean that you have to,

but you should be able to.

Don’t talk about how much you love drinking, it is stupid if it’s only

a performance and boring if its true. Don’t make a point of cursing. Of

all masculine entitlements these are the least appealing, even in guys.

Don’t complain unless it’s funny.
