He asked me:

I replied:
no, I don't like when they're over. Same with crossword
puzzles. The
let-down of realizing you've completed something useless
negates all
the fun of doing it.
He said: so
really you're afraid of death!
That's true.
If I could find a never-ending video game or crossword puzzle,
I might do
that. The important thing it that it outlive me, or delude me into
thinking it
will.
The same rule
applies to relationships; falling in love means maintaining the
delusion (of
love, beauty, whatevz) longer than you can maintain yourself.
This
suggests two courses of action: either quit while you're ahead, before the
delusion
ends, or find something that will necessarily outlive you.
I think
that's why a lot of people have kids.
